Harris County Tax Sales

Successful Registration

Harris County Tax sales are held the First Tuesday of each Month. Registration of bidders begins at 8:30 a.m. Sales must be held from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Each of the Constables conducts sales of properties in their precinct and the sales are most often held simultaneously.

Parking

Onsite Parking

Onsite parking is available at the Bayou City Event Center. Please be advised that the lot fills quickly and is usually full by 9:30am. $5.00 CASH ONLY fee will be charged. Bills larger than $20 will not be accepted.

Alternative Parking

METRO also provides a free 311 Bayou Event shuttle, which runs from the Fannin South Transit Center (at Fannin Street and West Bellfort) to the front doors of the Bayou City Event Center, less than a mile away.
  • Park at the Fannin South Park and Ride lot, then catch the free shuttle from the Fannin South Transit Center to the Bayou City Event Center. Cost for parking is $5.00.

OR

  • Use one of METRO’s other service to arrive at the Fannin South Transit Center, where you will catch the free shuttle to the Bayou City Event Center

METRORail’s Red Line

You may also take METRORail’s Red Line. Cost for the rail ticket is $1.25. Use your METRO Q Card. Transfers to the shuttle occur every 20 minutes. The shuttle trip takes approximately 8 minutes. Round trip service runs from 8am-5pm.
Note: If the Bayou City Event Center parking area is full, you will be directed by Deputy Constables to park at the METRO Park and Ride facility and take the shuttle.

Bidding Requirements:

NEW Bidder Registration Procedures:
  • You must register BEFORE the Tax Sale to be able to bid.
  • You must have a valid, government issued, photo ID.
  • You CANNOT have delinquent taxes due on any property owned in Harris County and you must sign a statement attesting to that fact on your Bidder Registration application. Please note that furnishing false information on your application is a CRIMINAL OFFENSE.
  • You must renew your registration annually.

How to Register:

  • In person: Complete and submit the “Tax Sale Bidder Registration” form at the registration table on the day of the Tax Sale.
  • By mail: Complete and then print the “Tax Sale Bidder Registration” form from the FORMS section of our website. Mail to: P.O. Box 3746, Houston, Texas 77253-3746.
  • Online at www.hctax.net: Select Property Tax, then Delinquent Property Tax Sales. Click on the blue Registration of Bidders button, then click on Register to enter and submit your information. Those who register online will receive an email confirmation and may create and maintain a profile for future use. Bidder Agents
If acting as an agent for another person or company:
  • You must register separately for each buyer whom you represent.
  • You must also provide written proof of authorization on company letterhead in order to bid for that person or company.

How to Obtain your Bidder Card:

  • If you have pre-registered, you can pick up your Written Registration Statement (Bidder Card) from the Will Call window on the day of the Tax Sale. Note that you must present a valid, government issued, photo ID.
  • If you register the day of the sale, you will receive your Bidder Card at the registration table. Keep this card with you for use at all Tax Sales until you renew your registration.

Note: If you registered online, you will be given a copy of your registration form to sign before obtaining your Bidder Card.
